Making the Most of Lighting during Bathroom Renovations

Blog

When some homeowners consider bathroom renovations, their main focus tends to be either in creating additional space in their bathroom or creating more storage space for their bathroom items. However, engaging in bathroom renovations is not simply about updating the look of your bathroom through enlarging it or making it more storage friendly. You can also engage in bathroom renovations that would enhance the aesthetics of the bathroom, which would make it a haven for relaxing after a long day. One of the best ways of doing this would be through lighting. Here are some of the ways that you can make the most of lighting during bathroom renovations.

Consider dimmer switches in your bathroom

Typically, homeowners will opt to install dimmer switches in living spaces such as the sitting room or the bedroom. However, this type of lighting is great for creating different ambiences in the bathroom. With dimmer switches in your bathroom, you can change the mood of the space according to what you feel. On the days that you want to relax and take a long bath, softer lighting would help you unwind while in the bathroom.

Consider installing LED lighting on the walls

A misconception some people have is that the bathroom should only be considered a utilitarian room. As such, many homeowners are used to using one overhead bulb for their lighting needs. However, you also use your bathroom to get ready, to shave and more. As such, you should ensure every corner is well illuminated to ensure you can see exactly what you are doing. The best way to do this would be through installing LED lighting on the various walls in your bathroom. This way, you never have to strain to catch the overhead light at a particular angle.

Consider recessed lighting in your bathroom

Bathrooms tend to have nooks and crannies that are convenient for storing different products that are packaged in small bottles and the like. These shelves tend to be recessed into the walls in order to make the most of the space available in the bathroom. However, when you have a significant number of items stored in these recessed crannies, it becomes harder to find something when you want it. To eliminate this problem, consider recessed lighting in the various shelves in your bathroom. Not only is the recessed lighting functional in helping you locate products you need, but it also contributes to the overall ambience of the bathroom. Recessed lighting gives you the feel of a candle-lit bathroom without having to actually light candles.
